Garrett College in Accident and McHenry, MD, is a valued partner in expanding how our community connects to food, farming, and education. The College has long been an anchor for learning and workforce development in Western Maryland. Our partnership brings Mighty Yough’s focus on mushrooms, healthy eating, and healthy living into that mission. Through community education and workforce programs, we work together to show how mushrooms can be grown, prepared, and enjoyed safely, while also building awareness of their place in local food systems. In addition, Mighty Yough Farms is serving as the instructor for ServSafe Food Handler and Manager certification. We are indebted to college administrators, Kaitlyn and Matia, for helping make our dreams for food education to life and accessible to the greater Western Maryland community!
